On Monday, August 31, Workday along with Eat. Learn. Play. and co-founders Stephen and Ayesha Curry hosted the 7th Annual Workday Charity Classic at Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club, bringing together supporters, staff, volunteers, and donors for the foundation's signature fundraising event. The Classic raised more than $5.6 million to support Oakland students and families, made possible in part by a generous matching gift from Aneel Bhusri, co-founder, CEO and Chair of Workday.

Eat. Learn. Play. and Workday have partnered since 2019, united by a shared commitment to lasting impact in the communities they support. Across the Workday Charity Classic and the broader partnership, the two organizations have raised nearly $15 million, with 100% of proceeds supporting Oakland youth. This year's proceeds advance Eat. Learn. Play.'s long-going commitment to transforming the public-school experience for a generation of Oakland students.

The day opened with welcome remarks from Bhusri, Stephen Curry, and Eat. Learn. Play. CEO Chris Helfrich, with CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis and Golf Channel host Kira Dixon providing commentary. On the course, golfers enjoyed tastings from local Bay Area eateries including Town Fare, Mela Bistro, and Tacos Sinaloa. Later, an awards ceremony recognized the winning twosome, followed by a $1 Million Challenge for Charity at the practice putting green and a backyard BBQ featuring food and drink from Gentleman's Cut, Domaine Curry, Chef Michael Mina, and more. The event closed with a silent auction and remarks from Stephen, Ayesha, and Bhusri.

Addressing the crowd, Stephen and Ayesha reflected on the foundation's seven-year journey and thanked the village of corporate and community partners whose support helps close the literacy gap, build incredible spaces within schools, provide nutritious food, expand access to sports and play, and create joyful experiences that celebrate kids.

To date, Eat. Learn. Play. has invested more than $100 million in Oakland students and families. That includes 35 million nutritious meals for kids and families experiencing food insecurity, more than $20 million committed to closing Oakland's literacy gap, and over 1 million new books placed in kids' hands. The foundation has also transformed 25 Oakland schoolyards and 6 gyms, creating safe, joyful spaces where students can play and stay active every day. Because Stephen and Ayesha cover all operating costs, 100% of donations go directly to Oakland youth.
