Reimagine what school meals can be in Oakland. Through a multi-year partnership with Oakland Unified School District, we're helping bring the district's Central Kitchen fully online so it can serve quality meals to students each year. At the same time, we're transforming elementary and middle school cafeterias into fun, dignified spaces where kids can eat well, connect with friends, and feel like they belong.
Eat. Learn. Play. in the News
Providing Nutritious Food
We believe children can't reach their full potential on an empty stomach. That's why we work to ensure every kid has access to the healthy, nutritious food they need to grow strong, fuel their learning, and fully engage in the joy of being a kid. To date, Eat. Learn. Play. has served more than 35 million meals to kids and families across Oakland, breaking down barriers to food access and helping build a healthier future for every child.
Meeting Families Where They Are
To keep showing up for Oakland families and our school partners, we're continuing to bring the Eat. Learn. Play. Bus into neighborhoods as a mobile resource center, delivering nutritious meals and new, culturally affirming books to Oakland kids and families each year. Alongside the Alameda County Community Food Bank and local Oakland restaurants, we're also getting meals, fresh produce, and grocery staples to families experiencing food insecurity, including on weekends and over the summer, when kids need that support most.
Advocate for Kid- Partisan Policies
We're continuing our work against hunger in Oakland while lending our platform to a bigger fight: protecting the state and federal nutrition programs that millions of kids and families rely on. Ayesha and Stephen Curry are using their voices to elevate community solutions to a national stage, because the innovations born in communities like ours can shape pro-kid policies that improve kids' lives across the country.
Community Partners
Eat. Learn. Play. continues working on the frontlines with Alameda County Community Food Bank and partners such as Brigaid, Community Kitchens, No Kid Hungry, Trust for Public Land, TomKat Foundation and UC Berkeley.
