Dublin, Ohio (WSYX) — When Memorial Tournament media day arrives you know warm weather will be more of a constant very soon.

Officials of the Memorial presented by Workday announced Tuesday the Tournament has accepted the entry of four-time major championship winner and two-time FedExCup champion Rory McIlroy to compete in 2022 Memorial Tournament.

McIlroy will be joined at the 47th edition of the prestigious invitational hosted by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus by fellow Workday brand ambassadors Matt Kuchar, winner of the 2013 Memorial Tournament, Matt Fitzpatrick, seven-time winner on the European Tour, and Brandt Snedeker, 2012 FedExCup champion.

Tournament Executive Director Dan Sullivan is hopeful 5-time Memorial champ Tiger Woods will want to continue to play following the PGA Championship this weekend as the Memorial is sandwiched between the PGA and the U.S. Open. "I have hope and it's not futile hope," Sullivan told ABC-6 during media day interviews Tuesday at Muirfield Village.

Steph Curry and wife Ayesha Curry could be in attendance if Steph's Golden State Warriors bow out of the current NBA playoffs. The Curry's Eat. Learn. Play Foundation is now affiliated with Nationwide Children's Hospital. Tim Robinson is CEO of Nationwide and said the Curry's charitable group "shares our dedication to fighting childhood hunger, improving literacy and education, and providing safe places for children to play."

These latest commitments strengthen the Memorial’s world-class field that now features five of the top-10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, including 2020 Memorial Tournament winner Jon Rahm (2), Collin Morikawa (3), Cameron Smith (4), defending and two-time Memorial winner Patrick Cantlay (5), and McIlroy (7).

The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is May 30–June 5 at the world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.
